Readers of the works of J. R. R. Tolkien have en-joyed the Calendars for the years 1973 and 1974 which used the artwork of J. R. R. Tolkien himself, with maps by Pauline Baynes.
For 1975 we offer the work of a famous fan artist, TIM KIRK, a devoted admirer of J. R. R. Tol¬kien. Because of his great admiration for the work of Professor Tolkien, Mr. Kirk has created A Portfolio for Middle-earth, using as his inspiration themes from "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings," originally published by George Alien & Unwin, Ltd., and Houghton Mifflin Company. The illustrations in this Calendar have not been en-dorsed by the late Professor Tolkien or his heirs.
We hope to fìnd other artists who are inspired to do their own conceptions of Middle-earth so that we shall be able to offer Calendars for future years.
